Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, operating under Operation Golden Peace and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have successfully thwarted a robbery, rescued three kidnapped victims, and recovered weapons during recent operations in Taraba State.
This development was disclosed in a statement on Sunday by the Acting Assistant Public Relations Officer of the Brigade, Captain Oni Olubodunde.
According to the statement, the troops, while conducting a patrol along the Takum-Katsina Ala road, intercepted a robbery near Kasuwa Shenu in Takum Town. Their timely intervention resulted in the arrest of a suspect, Emmanuel Thomas Oryiman, who was found in possession of a locally fabricated pistol and two rounds of 9mm ammunition.
In a separate operation on December 13, the troops responded to a distress call from Manzala village in Yoro Local Government Area regarding bandit activities. They successfully rescued three kidnapped victims, who have since been reunited with their families.
Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism and urged the public to support security operations by providing credible intelligence.
These operations underscore the military’s ongoing efforts to restore peace and security in the region.
