Musa Rhapsodi Affos

Taraba State, located in the northeastern region of Nigeria, continues to prove itself as a hub of incredible talent. Aside from being the home of Africa's most decorated rappers, MI Abaga and Jesse Jagz Abaga. Interestingly, most of the Grammy-nominated producers from northern Nigeria hail from this culturally rich state. 

In this article Rhapsodi Affos Blog will point out some some of  these outstanding individuals whose work has gained global recognition:


1. MrKleb Balasa (Caleb Balasa)
Origin: Karim Lamido Local Government Area, Taraba State  
Current Base: Jos, Plateau State  

MrKleb Balasa achieved international acclaim when he was nominated for his contribution to Burna Boy’s iconic album, Twice as Tall, which won the Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album in 2021. His adept production on the record demonstrated his exceptional talent and proved his Taraba roots as a bedrock for creativity in global music.  





2. Bloody Civilian (Emoseh Khamofu)
Origin: Donga Local Government Area, Taraba State  
Current Base: Abuja  

Bloody Civilian has emerged as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. Born Emoseh Khamofu, she received her first Grammy nomination in 2023 and followed it with another in 2024. These nominations recognized her contributions to Bob Marley’s One Love album, which is a contender for Best Reggae Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards. Her ability to blend diverse musical styles has positioned her as one of the most promising producers from Taraba.  

Interestingly she was the first female grammy nominated producer.



3. DeeYassobeatz (Hope Dennis Yasso)
Origin: Zing Local Government Area, Taraba State  

Another remarkable talent from Taraba is DeeYassobeatz, born Hope Dennis Yasso. He earned a Grammy nomination for his production of Yemi Alade’s Tomorrow*, a song nominated in the Best African Music Performance category. 

DeeYassobeatz’s unique style and creative depth continue to make waves in both local and international music scenes.  


Taraba is undoubtedly a breeding ground for musical excellence.

These talented producers are a testament to the immense creative potential in Taraba State. Despite hailing from a relatively less spotlighted region, their contributions to global music resonate far and wide. 

Their Grammy nominations not only highlight their individual brilliance but also shine a light on Taraba’s growing influence in shaping Nigeria’s music industry.
