The Jalingo Trade Fair Complex project in Taraba has been halted by a court order from the Federal High Court in Jalingo. The court mandated the Taraba State Government to immediately suspend all activities at the complex. This legal action stemmed from a case initiated by the Federal Government, claiming that the past administration of Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku sold the Trade Fair Complex to them for the construction of a federal secretariat in the state.

Presenting a duly signed document as evidence, the Federal Government asserted the validity of the transaction with the Taraba State Government regarding the Trade Fair Complex. In response, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industries in the State, Peter George, contested these claims, stating that the sale was not documented in the handover materials presented to the current administration.


George emphasized that the alleged sale of the Trade Fair Complex was illegal and counterproductive, pledging the Taraba State Government's commitment to recovering its landed property. He also mentioned that Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas had already allocated land for the construction of a federal secretariat in Jalingo.

The court's injunction, putting a stop to the State government's activities at the Trade Fair Complex, represents a significant setback to Governor Kefas's initiatives to modernize and enhance the complex. Contractors had already mobilized to the site and commenced work before the legal intervention occurred.
