The new state commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Comdt Edwin Ugwuja, has on Wednesday warned the perpetrators of crimes and criminalities in Taraba State should take a new leaf or vacate the state because he will leave no stone unturned to unravel them.

Commandant Ugwuja, who assumed office as state commandant on Tuesday, told newsmen in Jalingo that the corps, in collaboration with other sister security agencies, would make the state unconducive for criminals.

He said, “I will engage the Agro Rangers Squad and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team effectively. I will also introduce a robust rapid response squad for effective response to distress calls.

“More so, I will evolve an intelligence mechanism that is comparable to the Israeli intelligence agency. Security is a collective responsibility. Therefore, collaboration with sister security agencies, especially in the area of intelligence sharing and operations, will be enabled.

“Aside, the corps will engage in periodic patrol and surveillance; both land and aerial using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).”

Until his appointment, Commandant Ugwuja was head of operations, Anambra State Command; and head of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, Kebbi State Command.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Jos, and a Master’s degree from Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
