Tragedy struck on Monday as unknown gunmen suspected to be Kidnappers reportedly killed a police officer, one other, and abducted two Chinese in Wukari LG of Taraba.
Rhapsodi Affos Blog gathered that the gunmen attacked a mining site at Arufu community a suburb of Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State where they abducted two Chinese who were working on the site, which is being operated by H&H Mining company and taken to an unknown destination.
We further gathered from a community source, that while trying to repel attack the attack, two persons including a policeman lost their lives. Also, a Mobile policeman and several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
According to the community source, Arufu which is a border community between Taraba and Benue states has been experiencing series of attacks due to mining activity in the area. They however call on the state government to come to their aide and salvage them from their plight.
As at the time of filing this report, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Taraba State Command, DSP David Misal is yet to confirm the incident, as he was yet to receive the full details of the incident but however promised to get back to as soon as he the details of the incident were made available to him.
All efforts to reach the management of the mining company proved abortive as at the time of filing the report and the abductors were yet to make contact or demand for ransom for the release of their captives
