Troops of the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have dismantled several bandit hideouts and recovered logistics used by the criminals in southern Taraba State.

According to the brigade's spokesperson, Captain Olubodunde Oni, the operation was based on actionable intelligence about a meeting organized by a notorious wanted bandit leader, Liamdoo Douglas Adekpe, popularly known as Bajor.

"Acting on credible intelligence, our troops launched a rapid offensive on July 5, targeting remote locations in southern Wukari Local Government Area, believed to be a stronghold of the Bajor-led gang," said Captain Oni. "On sensing the troops' approach, the criminals fled, abandoning key items. The operation resulted in the destruction of major hideouts used for coordinating attacks and concealing weapons. Troops also seized five operational motorcycles likely used for swift raids on nearby communities."

In a separate operation in Plateau State, troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) reported the arrest of a suspected militia member and the recovery of arms and ammunition.

Major Samson Zakhom, Media Information Officer for OPSH, revealed that on July 6, troops from 3 Division/OPSH, while on a night patrol along the Kafi Abu-Rakwok Road in Gashish District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, intercepted the suspect.

“The individual was found in an ambush position, likely preparing to attack unsuspecting commuters,” said Major Zakhom.

Items recovered from the suspect include a fabricated AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, and 30 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition. He added that further operations are underway to track down other members of the militia group.
