In a daring attempt, suspected kidnappers tried to abduct the Chairman of Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State, Hon. Abubakar Saidu, at his residence in Jalingo's Government Reserved Area (GRA) on Friday. Eight heavily armed assailants, holding four AK-47 rifles, arrived at the chairman's house around 2 am.

Fortunately, Hon. Saidu spotted the kidnappers through his window and alerted the GRA Divisional Police Officer, DPO who responded promptly, forcing the assailants to flee. The chairman praised the police and vigilante personnel for their timely intervention.

Saidu has since appealed to the state Commissioner of Police to provide additional security personnel to safeguard his residence.

This incident highlights the need for enhanced security measures to protect public officials and citizens alike.
