Troops of the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested a suspected gunrunner, Adamu Usman, and recovered an illegally fabricated submachine gun at his residence in Taraba State.

In a press statement released on Friday by Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Command in Jalingo, the arrest followed a carefully planned operation based on credible intelligence.

"On January 13, 2025, troops conducted a search at the suspect’s residence in Marraban Gassol, Gassol Local Government Area. During the operation, a fabricated submachine gun linked to illegal arms trafficking was recovered," the statement disclosed.

The Army urged the public to continue providing reliable information to security agencies to bolster efforts in combating security threats.

Brigadier-General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, commended the professionalism and dedication of the troops involved in the operation. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to ensuring peace and addressing illicit arms proliferation in Taraba State.
