Alhaji Zubairu Hammangabdo, the traditional ruler of Gashaka Local Government Council in Taraba, has commended President Bola Tinubu for creating a ministry specifically focused on livestock development.

Speaking during an event organized by the Fulbe Development and Cultural Organisation (FUDECO) in celebration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary in Serti, the council’s administrative headquarters, the monarch emphasized the potential of the new ministry. He noted that it could unlock significant economic opportunities in the livestock sector.

The first-class chief highlighted the ministry’s ability to leverage the livestock value chain and coordinate efforts among stakeholders and agencies to develop the sector. He believed that proper management of the industry would not only enhance the livelihoods of livestock farmers but also contribute to the national economy.

The monarch also pointed out that an organized livestock sector could help reduce recurring conflicts between farmers and herders across the country. He applauded FUDECO for promoting education for herders' children and fostering peaceful coexistence between herders and neighboring communities.

FUDECO's state chairperson, Hajiya Aishatu Ardo, also spoke at the event. She highlighted the organization’s efforts to raise awareness among herders about the significance of Independence Day and encouraged them to adopt modern livestock farming techniques. She further urged the Fulbe community to prioritize education for the younger generation and explore alternative economic activities to boost milk and meat production.
