Troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) successfully neutralized a wanted terrorist during an intense firefight in Taraba State.

The operation occurred on Monday along the Gbeji-Afia road, a border area near the Ukum Local Government Area.

Captain Olubodunde Oni, spokesperson for the 6 Brigade, reported that the troops encountered the armed terrorists on motorcycles while conducting a patrol.

"Our brave troops immediately engaged the terrorists in a fierce exchange of gunfire, resulting in the elimination of one terrorist. Others managed to escape into the bush with gunshot wounds," Oni stated.

The neutralized terrorist was identified as the second-in-command to Fullfire, a notorious gang leader operating in Taraba and Benue States who had been on security agencies' wanted list.

This operation is part of a series of coordinated efforts by the Brigade to dismantle terrorist hideouts and ensure the safety and security of residents.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, praised the troops for their unwavering dedication and commitment. He reaffirmed the Brigade's determination to sustain this momentum until all terrorist enclaves in Taraba State and beyond are dismantled.

The commander also thanked the local communities for their support and cooperation, emphasizing that the fight against terrorism is a collective effort. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
