A tragic road accident in Taraba State has resulted in the deaths of six women. The victims were members of the Taraba State Chapter of the Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWIMAN).
They were traveling from Gembu, the administrative head of Sardauna Local Government Area, back to Jalingo, the state capital, after attending a conference.

In a press statement, Emmanuel Bello, spokesperson for Governor Agbu Kefas, described the recent accident as both heartbreaking and devastating. Governor Kefas expressed his condolences to the victims' families, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) leadership, WOWICAN, and the entire Christian community across the state and country, calling the incident a Black Sunday. He lamented the tragic circumstances of their deaths. The governor also reaffirmed his administration's commitment to improving road safety, particularly in high-risk areas. He has directed local government chairmen to ensure the maintenance of existing roads, including implementing proper traffic controls, signage, and basic repairs.
