Tragedy struck Nguroje community in Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba State, resulting in the loss of one life, identified as Gomma Saidu, and leaving another person missing due to a destructive flood.
The prolonged heavy rainfall caused widespread homelessness and extensive damage to agricultural lands in the area.
Hon. Nelson C. Len, the Taraba State House of Assembly Member representing Nguroje Constituency, expressed sorrow over the incident, highlighting it as unprecedented in the region.
According to Len, efforts are underway to prevent future disasters through the construction of waterway channels, with relief materials already dispatched to aid affected individuals.
The search continues for the missing individual as the community endeavors to recover from this tragedy.
