In a bid to revive the state Airport and as part of measures to keep to his promise in reopening the Danbaba Suntai Airport, Jalingo, Taraba State Government under the leadership of Dr. Agbu Kefas procured a new fire truck for the state airport, on Tuesday.
Rhapsodi Affos Blog - RAB reports that the fire truck arrived Tuesday evening. We had earlier reported on Monday that some Ambulances procured by the State Government arrived at the airport.
Rhapsodi Affos Blog (RAB) recalls that Taraba Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, alongside the Chief of Staff, Dr. Jeji Williams went to the NCAA office in Abuja as part of measures to reopen Danbaba Suntain Airport.
We had earlier reported that Dr. Kefas assured us that the Airport will resume full-time commercial activities agreements to reopen the Danbaba Suntai Airport in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, are gradually being finalized by the relevant authorities.
An indication of this came to light when Governor Agbu Kefas recently reached out to the leadership of both the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
The airport, which commenced operations in 2017, was recently shut down by the immediate past governor of the state, Darius Dickson Ishaku.
Since the closure of the airport, those seeking to travel by air in Taraba State have to first travel to the Yola International Airport in Adamawa State.
However, since he was sworn in barely 11 days ago, the governor has been working round the clock to bring the airport back to life.
Aside from easing the burden of traveling to Yola in Adamawa State to board a flight, the governor described the airport as strategic to the growth of the state.
He, therefore, expressed his commitment to do everything humanly possible to inject life back into the project.
A source confirmed to us that the authorities of NCAA have promised to work with the governor to resuscitate the abandoned airport.
