Waste-to-wealth: NDE Trains 30 Youths On Business Skills In Gombe




The office of the National Directorate of Employment in Gombe State has begun a four-day training of thirty youths drawn from different parts of the State on business skills on waste-to-wealth.


Director General of the NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, said the training was designed to help the participants pave way for efficiency and effectiveness in managing the business in the present economic realities on the ground in the country.


Represented by the Gombe State Coordinator of the NDE, Mr. Jediel Stephen, he said, the theme for the training was “basic business training for 2022 graduates of Enviropreneurship development scheme”.


He said, the aims and objectives of the training were for the participants to properly conceptualize their chosen area of business into feasible business ideas and write bankable feasibility study reports or business plans.


He said it was to also sensitize them to the economic realities of the Nigerian labour market and encourage them to opt for self-employment as a career as well as counsel them to choose the type of business that fits the skills learnt during their three months encircle ensues hip training.


The participants are also expected to be linked with relevant stakeholders and other financial institutions that will assist them in funding their chosen business projects with startup capital.



The training will also involve sensitization of the participants on the types of business to embark upon on their interests, skills and competence.


The participants will be taken through feasibility report or business plan writing, mentoring, interface with other participants as well as group work.


He admonished them to take the training very seriously because of it’s future benefits having in mind that Government’s concept of employment has transcended the traditional limit of providing paid jobs in it’s offices and other institutions to self-employment and reliance.


One of the participants, Rabiu Mohammed, thanked the NDE for coming up with the training aimed at equipping them with business knowledge on waste to wealth.
