The United Methodist Church in Nigeria, UMCN has Commissioned a new edifice for the accident and emergency unit in the church hospital in Jalingo the Taraba State capital.
The Chief Medical Director, United Methodist Church Nigeria Hospital, Dr. Ogbu Godfrey said the UMCN Hospital was having a challenge of lack of Emergencies unit, but with the new edifice, their dream has come true.
He noted that the Health care services rendered by the UMCN were to compliment the Taraba State Government's efforts in providing quality healthcare services to the people of the state.
“This new edifice is a big relief for the hospital because it will make our job better, before now when we have emergency cases we usually bring the patients to the normal ward which frightened other patients, but with this new building we will have a separate ward for emergency cases”.
The Bishop of the United Methodist Church Nigeria, Bishop John Wesley Yohanna, use the forum to call on members of the public to take advantage of the quality and affordable health care services provided by the hospital
He noted that the church has over ten healthcare centers spread across rural communities in the state which has been complementing the effort of the state government to provide quality healthcare services, especially to women and children.
He said, “It is an opportunity to serve God amid challenges and provide hospitality to people which is the cardinal example demonstrated by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ when he was going about his Ministry on earth, he healed many people who were sick”.
The Former Governor of Taraba State, Reverend Jolly Nyame appreciated the Taraba State Government for supporting the Church to serve the people.
“As Oliver twists, we need more from Government so that we can do more.
“This edifice is for everybody regardless of Tribe or Religion. The Church is open to delivering health care services such as this one. This building should be expanded,” he said.
