JUST IN: Gunmen Kill 3 Farmers in Wukari (Photos)

Tragedy struck on Wednesday as unknown gunmen suspected to be militia reportedly killed 3 farmers while working in their farms in Wukari LG of Taraba state.

It was gathered by our reporter from a community source that the farmers made their end in the early hours of Wednesday while working on their

Farma in Assa village a suburb of Wukari Local Government Area of the state when the gunmen attacked them.

The Executive Chairman of Wukari Local Government Council, Dr. Daniel Adi confirmed the report to our reporter via telephone.

Dr. Daniel said the incident happened in the farmyards of the deceased, where they were clearing the field for the new planting season.

Adding that their dead bodies were brought to Wukari General Hospital by police escort.

"On getting the report that farmers were being attacked in Assa, I spoke with the DPO, we mobilized the security personnel and went there, but before getting there they were already killed.

"And I want to appeal to the people of Wukari to hold their peace and allow security personnel to do their work," he appealed.

The State Police Public Relations Officer,  DSP David Misal said they have heard the report, but they are still waiting for an official report.

Rhapsodi Affos Blog notes that, this attack is coming barely 48 hours after unknown gunmen attacked a police checkpoint in Dogon-Gawa community, a suburb of Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State killing two  police and carting away with their rifles.
