Absenteeism During Lectures: Taraba State University Lecturers To Start Writing Attendance

Lecturers of Taraba State University, Jalingo (TSU) have been mandated to start writing attendance after each lecture over absenteeism during lecture hours.

This was contained in a circular signed by the Deputy vice-chancellor (Academic) of the University, Prof. Baker's on Wednesday, 7th April 2021.

According to the circular, the University management gave the order because it has come to their notice that most lecturers of the institution don't go to classes to lecture and a majority of the lecturers haven't started their lecturer which according to them made the university look empty and crippling academic activities in the institution.

It further states that the Deans of every faculty should take attendance of every lecturer in the lecture hall and report after two days to the office of the Deputy vice-chancellor of the university starting from Friday.

Rhapsodi Affos Blog gathered that the circular has generated a lot of mixed reactions from students and the general public. While some say it is laughable for the institution to give such orders, others on the other hand agree that it is necessary to keep the academic standard of the institution.
