Tragedy struck on Wednesday as unknown gunmen abducted the member representing Nguroje Constituency in the Taraba House of Assembly,  Barr. Bashir Mohammed, in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.

Rhapsodi Affos Blog gathered from a family source that the lawmaker who is also the Chairman House Committee on Information in the Taraba state House of Assembly was kidnapped after gunmen stormed his house situated behind the DSS office,  close to Dr Jalo Eid prayer ground area of Jalingo at about 1: 30 AM in the early hours of Wednesday.

It was further gathered from the source, the gunmen who were more than ten in number and heavily armed with assorted weapons invaded the house at about 1.30 AM and started sporadic shooting that lasted for over 45 minutes scaring the residents of the area before kidnapping the lawmaker.

According to our source, none of the family members was hurt, adding that the kidnappers forced the lawmaker into one of the two vehicles used by them.


The spokesman of the Taraba police command DSP, David Misal has confirmed the report to our reporter via telephone.


Misal said the kidnappers are yet to contact the family. He however said the police are on the search.
