Hon. Justice Kumai Bayang Aka’ah, chairman of the Taraba commission of Judicial Inquiry has said the commission hasn't Sidelined the TIV ethnic group.


Justice Aka’ah made this clarification on Wednesday during the second sitting of the commission.


Recall, the first sitting of the commission was held on Monday in Jalingo, where the TIV opted out because they lack confidence in the commission and that the commission has gone contrary to section 2-4 of the Constitution by not naming all the parties & not profiling the TiVs


Justice Kumai said the commission is meant for fact finding and recommendations on lasting peace and thus the members of commission are not rubber-stamp to name anyone. He went further by saying that the commission doesn't discriminate but is seeking lasting peace between warring parties & the state at large.


He however added that  a TIV group representing 8Million TIVs filed a case in high court to stop the commission from sitting. “we as a commission cannot stop whosoever that wants to opt out but our sole aim is to bring lasting peace in the state”.


The second sitting was meant for submission of memo by various ethnic groups.
