Gov Darius Ishaku is one Governor who has put in highest investment into the network of power supply through the Yola Electricity Distribution Company(YEDC), which has so far impacted positively on the lives of Nigerians, particularly Tarabans, than any other Customer or Stakeholder for the past three(3) years. Gov Ishaku bagged the "Best Electricity Customer of The Year" last year owing to his prompt payment of electricity bills and purchases/installation of transformers which led to the increase of megawatts and in turn boosting socioeconomic activities in Jalingo, the state headquarters and other parts of the state - Interestingly, due to installation of Injection/Distribution substations in Jalingo metropolis, there is daily increase of power supply to Jalingo Business Unit from *eight mega watts to twenty-five mega watts* - This is as a result of the synergy between YEDC and the Ishaku led administration as well as prompt action to faults.


As captured by the Business Manager of the YEDC, Jalingo Business Unit, Mr Herbert Rufus Hammawa during the award ceremony, he said "Gov Ishaku has been collaborating with the YEDC/NTC to improve load allocation to Jalingo and Wukari Business Units, and has achieved tremendous improvement from an average of 8MWH to 25MWH daily in Jalingo Business Unit and from an average of 3MWH to 7MWH daily in Wukari Business Unit, which along with other internal efforts of YEDC have culminated into stable power supply to the state capital, more than any other state capital in Nigeria".

Gov Ishaku didn't achieve this laudable intervention in the power sector as a novice in the field of power injection and distribution, but as a former Minister of Power in the administration of Goodluck Jonathan who has mastered the intricacies and dynamics of power injection and distribution. It can't also be hurriedly dismissed that Gov Ishaku added flesh to construction of the Kashimbila multi-purpose dam through the Hydro-electric power generation unit, where he played strict supervisory roles on jobs been carried out by contractors and site engineers.
