 Been the only woman sitting on this platform is a clear cut example of the lack of women with leadership skills.

  urprisingly women occupy up to 49% of the population of people living in taraba state and presently we have only two women in political positions amongst the almost 2,000,000 women.
    I have a dream that one day women of equal number with men will sit by the table and deliberate issues leading to the progress of taraba state. She will be judged not based on hee gender but on her intellect. I saw in my dreams where women are Attorney Generals of the federation, Inspector General, Medical Directors, Governor and the President.

    I think my dream is small and limiting because I know women can do more than that.
Where are we today?
    Women in politics today are few and most of them are not among the decision makers in taraba state, they are mere apointees such as women leaders in the political party and they don't fully contribute to the development of our dear state.

    My Grudge is not with the uneducated and ill-informed women but the educated, informed and formed women who refused to see that the good in the future.

   In pre-colonial nigeria there were matrilineal successions. Here in northern nigeria we have a case of queen amina who held high political office, who succeeded her father's throne and ruled for 34 years, during the British colonial rule, women were eliminated from their exalted institutional positions in traditional political system with a western oriented system in which women had bo place. Five years after independence only 7% of the salaried workforce were women
Problems women encounter
-Manipulation in voting exercise
-Political violence and the notion that politics is a dirty game.
-Men constitute to a large number of party membership and the diminate the party hierarchy and influence decision making.
-Only few men allow their wives to participate in politics

-Lack of adequate finance
-Family Responsibility
To overcome this problem
-Be a mentor and get a mentor.
-women leaders should be part of decision making.
-prevent violence against women during elections
-coalition of women NGO to lobby for political reforms.
-women organization to provide strong political training and leadership training.
-Fund raising from businesses owned by women to support women campaign
-Foreign partnership
