For a while now the real identity of the so-called herders wasn't known not until this past Sunday when youths of a wurkun community in Karim Lamido LGA of Taraba state repelled an attack and caught some of the attackers alive. One of those caught confessed that he is of Jukun origin but was among the attackers because he is fighting for his religion. Another fighter was caught one kilometer from the UMCN Junior seminary at mile six, Jalingo, he also confessed to be of mumuye descent and was also fighting against his mumuye brothers on religious ground. Some of the attackers who were initially thought to be Fulani herders revealed that more fighters will be coming to avenge the ones the locals have killed. An eye witness who was also among the youths who repelled the latest attack told our reporter that about 250 people were killed only one of which was a native of the attacked community, the rest of which are the invaders. It is now understood that the violent people we were made to see as Fulani herders have nothing to do with herding at all but are people fighting for what they call "a holy jihad" against infidels (people of different faith from theirs).
