About 336 women and youths will be trained in
different skills by the Taraba State Government
across the
16 Local
Government Areas of the State.
This was disclosed by the Taraba State Governor,
Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku at Zandi Lodge Zing,
while flagging off a Women and Youths
Empowerment Programme which will last for
three months.
The Governor who was represented by the Chief
of Staff Government House, Hon. Rebo Usman
said, the Women and Youths Empowerment
Programme which is meant to train Women and
Youths in varieties of trade has three training
centers across the three Senatorial Zones of the
State.
Rebo Usman said the Center in Kurmi will train
Women and Youths from the Central Zone,
Wukari center is to train people of the Southern
Zone, while Zing is the center for the Northern
Zone with two participants from each ward
across the sixteen Local Government Areas.
He revealed that about twenty five resource
persons that are to train the selected women and
youths are already on ground and the
participants will be trained in the arts of
traditional dress making, tailoring, carpentry and
shoemaking among others.
The Chief of Staff mentioned that all participants
will be paid the sum of ten thousand naira
monthly by the State Government as a way of
augmenting their expenses within the period of
training.
Rebo Usman further informed the participants
that at the end of the the training exercise, all
trainees would be provided with working tools in
the trades they have learnt.
He stressed that as a way of motivating and
equally empowering them, Government will
always buy off their products and challenged the
participants to make use of this golden
opportunity to contribute their quota to the
growth of the State.
Earlier in his speech, the Commissioner for
Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Abba
Akawu Zagga told the participants that
Government has committed huge resources into
making the programme a reality and called on
the participants to be committed by putting in
their best during the period of training.
Abba Zagga added that the Ministry will be
monitoring their performances from time to time
and added that the Rescue Mission of Governor
Darius Dickson Ishaku is on course and
reminded the participants on need to key into the
vision of the present administration so as to be
self reliant.
On arrival at Zing which was the Venue of the
Flag – Off, the Chief of Staff Government House,
paid homage to the Kpanti Zing, Alhaji Bala
Suleiman Ibrahim Sambo, where he briefed him
on the purpose of his visit to his domain.
