As a Child growing up on the Mambilla plateau is a memory  i won't forget easily.I still remember waking up each morning with the thoughts of going to school  and coming back in the evening. why? Because Mr Paulinus Ogbonna would always persuade parents to pay for Evening Extra moral classes for their children. Which means they was no need going back home after the normal day classes, we've got to stay back till in the evening.

I could still remember going to Fadawa quaters each morning, Ascending and descending various hilly roads. Also remembered the stream know as 'mayo-lope' and how
it use to be during the rainy season.One most important thing i won't forget as a child ,was how late coming was not tolerated at Kings Kid Center, Gembu popularly known as KKC. The level of Education there  was something you couldn't compete with amongs other schools then.

During the children's day celebration then, it use to be the most colourful events or occasion on the plateau. The lovely colours of green and yellow for the Nurul-Ulum Primary school,Then brown colours of the Bem primary school,purble and green of my KKC,the blue and lovely colours of MohMansur primary school which was then the most populated.I won't  forget The GSS,GDSS,GTC,GSSS And Others that always come from Leme,Nguroge,Mbamga,Jauro and many more.. The presence of the chairman saluting the students,pupils of various schools was also part of it. it was fun!!

       This was one from a thousand memories on the Mambilla plateau. But i never knew that Mambilla plateau was much more than it looked, The weather condition was so different,different cultures,different lifestyle but most importantly, welcoming people.If you have never visited the mambilla plateau you won't know what am talking about.

1.The Mambilla Plateau has an average elevation of about 1,600 metres (5,249 ft) above sea level, making it the highest plateau in Nigeria.

2.The plateau developed on basement complex rocks.

3.The Mambilla Plateau is hilly with deep gorges and travelers are constantly passing from one panoramic view to the other.

4.The plateau is dissected by many streams and rivers; notably among them are the Donga River and Taraba River, with both having their sources on/from the Mambilla Plateau.

5.The highland is home to Nigeria and West Africa's only highland tea plantations, Located In Kakara town.

 6.The major ethnic groups on the plateau, include the; Mambila, Fulani,Kaka, Panso and Kambu, with the Mambilla being the Majority. The Major Language Spoken on the Plateau are Mambilla (Which comprises several Dialects, Fulfulde (Which is the Commercial Language and spoken by almost the entire Population), Kaka, Hausa etc.

7.Nigeria's largest game reserves, the Gashaka/Gumpti Game Reserve is found north of the Gang ('Chappal Waddi') Mountain area just on the northern border of the Mambilla Plateau. The Gang Peak is West Africa's highest peak (excluding Cameroon's peaks)and has a rich historical and tourist importance steeped in enthralling Mambilla mythologies and legends. 'Chappal Wadi' is a misnomer for the ancient Gang Peak, whose tradition and historical phenomena have spanned several centuries to date (see Bami-Yuno: Jumboni).


 8.The plateau is entirely covered by soil with occasional occurrence of granite.

 9.The Mambilla Plateau receives over 1850 millimetres of rainfall annually.It is also Mosquito and Tse-Tse fly free.

10.A hydroelectric power dam is planned to be constructed on the plateau


The Mambilla Plateau has been considered as Nigeria tourist heaven,Though their still much to do
