The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the
election of Nyesom Wike as governor of Rivers state.
In a unanimous judgment, the justices at the apex
court validated the Independent National Electoral
Commission’s (INEC) declaration of Wike as winner of
the April 11, 2015 polls.
The ruling was delivered by Justice Kekere-Ekun.
The Rivers state Governorship Election Petition
Tribunal and the Appeal Court in Abuja had nullified
the election.
The reasons for judgment are to be provided on
February 12.
