As the wise ones said ‘’a single tread in
a tapestry which colour is bright and shines can never see its purpose in the
colour of the grand design……..so is the life of Prince Saidu S. Yusuf(J.P) to
his people, family and friends who are around and beyond.
Prince Saidu S. Yusuf(J.P) is and Ichen
by tribe, he hails from Mararraba Shinmo of Donga local area of Taraba state.
Born in 1949 into the royal family of the first ‘’TII GANKWE’’(chief of Gankwe)
‘’SHUSHWA-GOVALA THE 1ST’’ at the OLD GANKWE called ‘’HWISTEN’’ situated at a
mountain foot now located between Donga and Bali road before river SUNTAI. His
father was YERIMA Yusuf Karfe a grandson to the first Tii Gankwe, he is the
founder of a town called ‘’MU-YUSUF’’(GIDAN YUSUF) also called ‘’GANKWE BAKIN
KOGI OR GANKWE B.K’’ situated along bali road towards river Suntai at the side
of Donga local government area…his mother was Patu Yusuf, all of them were of
the same tribe and clan
He had his first school (elementary 3) in
the year 1963 being among the first set of DAUDA KWANCHA PRIMARY SCHOOL DONGA,
and had his primary 7 at EBENEZER PRIMARY SCHOOL WUKARI as the head boy in
1967. After he got admission into the famous ‘’CRAFT SCHOOL’’ at Makurdi Benue
state in the academic year of 1967/1978 but couldn’t continue and found himself
in the police force where he served as a detective(CID). He later went for
studies/course and had a diploma in criminology certified by the ‘’SCHOOL OF
CRIMINOLOGY NEWJERSEY USA’’. He worked with notable men in the
service like late Victor Pam former Gbongon Jos, Samaila Gwarzo former
commissioner of police and the then aide of the former head of state Gen. Sani
Abacha, Garba Lange former commissioner of police before he retired.
He had knew several people because of the
good work he had exhibited in the North where he lastly served…some of them are
Late Ishaku Istifanus, Mr. Idris also known as ‘’Ishi baa-nzu’’(meaning we are
one in wapan language), His royal highness Nagogo the Emir of Kastina, late Daniel
Ishaku CEO Ishaku hospital Kaduna, Alhaji Nadabo Yusuf chanchangi,the present Governor of Taraba state his
excellency Arch. Darius D. Ishaku and even the renown tycoon Alhaji Chanchangi
of Kaduna who gave him special recognision.
Politically he is one of the pioneers that
brougth politics to stay in the southern part of the then GONGOLA STATE (Takum
local government area) in the 80’s and 90’s before the emergence of the new
faces in nowadays politics of the enviroment. He had never contested for any
seat but aspired for being the chairman of Donga local government area when it
was newly created in 1991,but later gave room for others to contest because
there was no harmony among the politicians(loggerheads). He had been with
politians like the former vice president of Nigeria Atiku Abubakar(Turakin
Adamawa), Jibrin Anfani of Wukari, former Governor of Taraba state Jolly Nyame,
late Sam Tsokwa, Baba Gana Kingibe, Aliyu Habu Fari, Mr. Boss Gida Mustapha,
Hon. Musa Karamti, late Mathias Ayuba, John Mamman, Hon. Polycarp Sama, late
Sam Tsokwa, Mr. Philip Kapiya and other.
As it is usually said ‘’the stone that
sit in the very top of the mountains mighty face doesn’t think it’s more
important than the stone that forms the
base’’…….therefore; he has been one of the elders behind the rise of some
popular politicians of the southern Taraba state of today but remained silent
and as a background for the grassroots of his love ones. He well
known,respected,and has integrity and a focused person with personality.
Prince Saidu S. Yusuf(J.P) by inheritance
is ‘ROYALTY’’……. he is to be the next titled man (YERIMA) of his lineage which
is of the royal family bearing ‘’GOVALA’’ in his environment
