The Taraba North Progressive Forum has formally endorsed Senator Shuaibu Isa Lau for another term in office, citing his track record of development and legislative performance across the senatorial district.
The endorsement was announced on April 12, 2026, at Muri Hotel in Jalingo, Taraba State, during a gathering of stakeholders, party faithful, community leaders, and members of the press.
Speaking on behalf of the forum, its Secretary, Comr. Ibrahim J. Manga, said the decision followed a critical assessment of the senator’s achievements and contributions to the development of Taraba North.
According to Manga, Senator Lau has demonstrated “purposeful and strategic service” since assuming office on July 5, 2017, adding that his tenure has been marked by commitment to improving the welfare of constituents and driving sustainable development.
He dismissed claims from opposition figures alleging underperformance, describing such assertions as misleading and lacking factual basis.
“The arithmetic is clear, and the record is straight. What we present is not opinion but verifiable achievements,” Manga stated.
Key Achievements Highlighted
The forum outlined several projects executed under the senator’s leadership, particularly in the areas of electrification, education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
In the power sector, the group noted the installation of multiple 500KVA transformers across communities including Lamido Borno, Sunkani, Korkaye, Baba Ya’u, and parts of Jalingo and Zing. It also highlighted rural electrification efforts in areas such as Sabon Gari Mika, Mayolope, Garin Dogo, and Abbare.
The forum further commended the senator’s investment in solar energy, stating that solar streetlights have been installed across nearly all 61 wards in the senatorial district, improving security and economic activities.
In education, the construction of classroom blocks and facilities across several communities, including Jalingo, Kunini, Zabte, and Yorro, was cited as evidence of commitment to human capital development. The group also referenced ongoing legislative efforts toward establishing higher institutions, including a Federal University of Science and Technology in Lau.
Healthcare interventions were also highlighted, including the donation of an ambulance to Zing General Hospital, provision of medical equipment, and support toward the establishment of a National Orthopedic Hospital in Jalingo. Ongoing projects such as hospital construction in Bandawa and doctors’ quarters in Karim Lamido were also mentioned.
Additionally, the forum noted the drilling of boreholes and provision of solar-powered water systems across multiple communities as part of efforts to improve access to clean water.
Legislative and Employment Contributions
Beyond constituency projects, the forum commended Senator Lau’s legislative efforts, including sponsorship of bills such as the Pre-Shipment Inspection of Export Bill, 2025, and proposed institutions in Karim Lamido and Lau.
It also highlighted his role in facilitating employment opportunities for youths in federal ministries, agencies, and security institutions.
Call for Continuity
The forum emphasized the importance of continuity in governance, noting that Senator Lau’s experience, political network, and ranking status in the National Assembly position him to deliver more dividends of democracy.
It warned that replacing such experience with what it described as “an inexperienced alternative” could hinder ongoing progress in the district.
Formal Endorsement
The forum concluded by declaring its full support for the senator’s re-election bid.
“We hereby wholeheartedly and unequivocally endorse Senator Shuaibu Isa Lau for another term in office,” Manga said, adding that the decision was based on evidence and performance rather than sentiment.
The group urged constituents across Taraba North to support the senator, stressing that his achievements and impact remain visible across the district.
