The Agbu Kefas Continuity Movement has dismissed the declaration by Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), describing it as a desperate political comeback built on falsehoods rather than facts.

In a statement issued shortly after the declaration, the group said Bwacha’s speech lacked credibility, characterising it as a recycled narrative filled with distortions, inflated claims, and misrepresentation of the situation in Taraba State.

The movement argued that the former senator’s claims on issues such as debt, insecurity, and governance failure were exaggerated and not supported by verifiable evidence. It specifically faulted his assertion that the state’s debt profile rose from ₦237 billion to over ₦1 trillion, describing the figure as misleading and challenging him to provide credible data.

On insecurity, the group pointed to what it described as contradictions in Bwacha’s position, noting that he was able to hold a public declaration in Jalingo without incident. According to the statement, this reflects an improvement in security compared to previous years, which it attributed to the efforts of Governor Agbu Kefas’ administration.

The movement further dismissed Bwacha’s comments on transparency, stating that he should instead account for his own record in public office. It accused him of relying on unverified claims due to a lack of concrete evidence against the current administration.

Highlighting what it described as progress under the Kefas administration, the group maintained that there have been measurable improvements in security, education, and ongoing reforms across the state.

It added that Bwacha’s proposals lacked clarity and substance, describing them as generic promises without a clear strategy for implementation.

The group urged residents of Taraba State to focus on what it termed visible progress rather than political rhetoric, insisting that the state should not return to what it called outdated leadership approaches.

Reaffirming its support for Governor Agbu Kefas, the movement concluded that the 2027 election would be decided by performance rather than declarations, expressing confidence that the state would not “move backwards.”
