Fresh indications of an impending cabinet reshuffle have emerged in Taraba State following the nomination of Dr. Emmanuel Lawson Hassan and Mrs. Fatima Tenny Habeeb as commissioners by Governor Agbu Kefas.

The nominations, announced through an official press release signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Bar. GT Kataps have intensified speculation over the fate of some serving commissioners, especially as both nominees come from local government areas already represented in the state executive council.

Dr. Emmanuel Lawson Hassan is from Takum, while Mrs. Fatima Tenny Habeeb hails from Lau. Their emergence has placed attention on Yakubu S. Yakubu, Commissioner for Transportation Development, and Comrade Julius Peter, Commissioner for Rural and Urban Development, who currently occupy cabinet positions linked to the same local government areas.

Prior to this development, there had already been growing discussions within political circles about the governor’s intention to make adjustments in his cabinet, with concerns raised over performance in some ministries and the need to inject fresh energy into governance.

Sources close to government further hinted that the latest nominations may not be the last, as more names are expected to be forwarded in the coming days. According to the sources, wider changes could still unfold, including the possibility of a broader executive council reorganization if the governor decides to take that route.

Although no official dissolution of the executive council has been announced, the fresh appointments are being widely interpreted as the beginning of a possible new phase in the administration’s cabinet structure.

The nominations remain subject to screening and approval by the Taraba State House of Assembly.

In the same announcement, Governor Kefas also approved the appointment of Muhammad Al-Ameen Ibraheem as Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor with immediate effect.
