Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have successfully foiled an attack by armed bandits in Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State, recovering weapons and motorcycles in the process.
According to reports, on October 9, 2025, soldiers stationed at Tapga Ngasawa village received credible intelligence from residents of Majebiyu village, indicating that a group of armed men had invaded the community. The assailants were said to have fired sporadically, vandalised properties, and dispossessed locals of motorcycles and other valuables.
Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the troops mobilised to the scene and engaged the attackers. On sighting the advancing soldiers, the hoodlums fled into a nearby bush, reportedly sustaining gunshot wounds during their escape.
In a statement issued by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Public Relations Officer of the 6 Brigade, a subsequent search and clearance operation in the area led to the recovery of five (5) dane guns and two (2) motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing criminals.
The Commander, 6 Brigade Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism, courage, and swift response. He reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to recovering all illegally acquired weapons and preventing their use in criminal activities across Taraba State and neighbouring areas.
