The Taraba State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspected kidnapper believed to be involved in the abduction of a 100-year-old man in the Sabon Pegi community of Ibi Local Government Area.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, James Lashen Saminu, said the arrest followed a swift operation by police operatives attached to the Ibi Division in collaboration with local youths.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on August 6, 2025, around 9:30 a.m., when three armed men stormed the residence of Joshua Magani Ubandoma and abducted him at gunpoint. The matter was reported to the police by Hillary Habila Ubandoma.

“Acting promptly, operatives visited the scene and trailed the kidnappers by following motorcycle tyre marks into the surrounding forest. After days of intelligence gathering, one suspect, Kingsley Alose, 37, a resident of Sabon Pegi, was arrested on September 2, 2025,” the statement revealed.

The Command added that investigations are ongoing, with efforts intensified to track down the remaining suspects and rescue the victim.

Commending the operatives for their swift response, Commissioner of Police **Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin reassured the public of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

“The Taraba State Police Command remains resolute in its mission to prevent crime and ensure the safety and security of all residents,” she said.
