JALINGO – The Taraba State Councils of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have declared a statewide strike, scheduled to begin on Monday, August 11, 2025. The decision follows a resolution reached at the Joint State Administrative Council meeting held on August 6.

According to an official notice signed by Comrade Peter Jediel, Chairman of the NLC, and Comrade Abasu Sule, Chairman of the TUC, the strike is aimed at addressing alleged irregularities perpetrated by the Biometric Data Capture Committee which led to some of her members not paid salaries. The leadership of both unions emphasized the need to implement the earlier ultimatum issued in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

The statement directed immediate mobilization across all sectors and urged workers, civil society organizations, and the general public to make necessary provisions in anticipation of the strike.

Furthermore, the unions called on all branches and units of their affiliates, including civil society groups, to establish strike implementation committees. These committees are expected to ensure the effectiveness and smooth execution of the strike action within all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) across the state.

The unions advised the public to remain alert for further updates.
