Tragedy struck as a 400-level student of Federal University, Wukari, identified as Ahenjir Emmanuella, has tragically lost her life after being struck by a stray bullet allegedly fired by a police officer during a stop-and-search operation in Makurdi, Benue State.

The incident occurred around 8AM on Friday at the Wurukum Roundabout, where officers from the Benue State Police Command were conducting routine vehicle checks.

Eyewitnesses reported that a police officer unexpectedly opened fire on a commercial vehicle transporting several passengers, including Emmanuella. The bullet reportedly pierced the vehicle and fatally wounded her.

Emmanuella was said to be returning to school when the unfortunate event took place.
