The Taraba State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) has called on Governor Agbu Kefas to clear the four months of outstanding salaries owed to teachers in the state.

Speaking to journalists in Jalingo on Friday, the state chairman of NUT, Comrade Nathan Solomon, emphasized that unpaid wages were the rightful entitlement of teachers.

"We acknowledge that the previous administration left office without settling these salary arrears. However, we also want to remind the governor that governance is a continuous process," Solomon stated.

He further noted that the former administration had caused division within the union by appointing an illegitimate leadership. Despite this, teachers remained united in their fight for justice.

"In the midst of these challenges, teachers endured hardships, and as a result, the previous government withheld their entitlements. However, we stood firm against division and worked towards uniting all teachers, which has strengthened the union," he added.
