A Jalingo-based businessman, Husseni Kashimu, has been brought before a Chief Magistrate Court in Jalingo, Taraba State, over allegations of having an affair with a married woman.
The case, presided over by Chief Magistrate Chris Jonah, was filed by Mahmud Usman Garba, a resident of Rafin Senyi, who accused Kashimu of enticing his wife, Hadiza Sani, and engaging in an extramarital relationship with her.
During the hearing, a prosecution witness, Tahir Hassan, testified that Kashimu had admitted to the affair during a reconciliation meeting held at the palace of the Chief of Tigun in Kurmi Local Government Area. According to Hassan, Kashimu had promised to end the relationship but allegedly failed to do so.
Despite interventions, Kashimu reportedly continued his involvement with Hadiza Sani, a mother of five children.
Chief Magistrate Jonah has adjourned the case to April 9 for the continuation of the hearing and instructed the prosecution counsel, Danlami Shehu, to ensure the remaining witnesses are present to expedite the trial.
