The Taraba State Police Command successfully rescued two kidnapped victims during an operation at a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Isinyi Forest, Tapga Village, Ibi Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement released on January 21, 2025, by the command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Usman, the rescue operation was conducted by detectives from the Ibi Division, in collaboration with local vigilantes and hunters.
According to the statement, the police received intelligence regarding suspicious activities in the area around 5:00 a.m. Responding swiftly, the team engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle. The suspects, overwhelmed by the security operatives, fled into the forest, abandoning their captives.
The rescued individuals, identified as Alhaji Tafiyanu and Abubakar Isa, are residents of Garin Bashar in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State. One of the victims, Alhaji Tafiyanu, sustained a severe cut on his left hand inflicted by the kidnappers. He is currently receiving treatment at the First Referral Hospital in Ibi and is reported to be in stable condition.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims were abducted from Wase in Plateau State. The command assured the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
The Taraba State Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, urging the public to provide timely information to support the fight against crime in the region.
