MI Abaga & DeeYasso

Both MI Abaga & DeeYasso are from the North and Most Importantly, they are both Tarabans.

While DeeYasso spent most of his life in Jalingo, the Taraba State Capital, on the other hand, MI Abaga spent most of his life time in Jos the Plateau State Capital and mostly identifies with them. However, the Abaga brothers never denied being from Takum, Taraba State.

MI has been in the limelight for over two decades and has risen to be the most successful rapper and most heard rapper in Nigeria and one of the best and decorated rappers in Africa.the successes of artists like Ice Prince, Jesse Jagz etc can be attributed to him. Even Wizkid 's success story is not complete without MI.


DeeYasso on the other hand has been doing music at an early age, but came to limelight on the National scene properly, sometimes around 2020 and since then he has produced a lot of songs that turned out to be hit, he has worked for a lot of A-Kist artists and won so many awards including the beats award for three years consecutively.

He became more pronounced after getting a Grammy nomination for producing "Tomorrow by Yemi Alade" in 2024.

While we appreciate DeeYasso for all his contributions to Taraba, we shouldn't compare or despite MI Abaga. Jos is more home to MI than Taraba because that was where he was raised. Same way Jalingo is more home to DeeYasso because that was his base before he came to limelight.

MI is primarily a rapper and secondarily a Producer while DeeYasso is primarily a producer and secondarily a singer/songwriter.


The most important thing is both are doing well in their respective field.

In 2021, MI Abaga was the first person who wished DeeYasso a happy birthday and they both have mutual respect and love for each other, though MI has reached the peak and climax of his career and DeeYasso has more opportunities to explore.

The likes of MrKlebb, Bloody Civilian are both Grammy Nominated Producers originally from Taraba both are based in Jos and Abuja respectively. 

As lovers of creativity, let's support, encourage rappers rather than unhealthy competition.
