After 14 years of service in various capacities within the state, over 300 local government retirees in Taraba State are set to receive their long-awaited gratuities and terminal benefits.
Governor Agbu Kefas has approved a sum of 500 million naira to initiate the payment process for these retirees.
The Kefas administration is committed to clearing the backlog of gratuities and pensions owed to civil servants. The initial phase of this payment exercise will benefit 300 retirees.
At the official flag-off, Coordinator Benjamin Baissa announced that the state government has also allocated 100 million naira monthly towards settling the outstanding gratuities of local government retirees.
In March 2024, the Taraba State Government disbursed 1 billion naira to cover the entitlements of state civil service retirees in 2010. The state has also released 200 million naira monthly to address unpaid entitlements.
Governor Kefas has expressed his administration's determination to ensure that all retired civil servants receive their dues before the end of his tenure.
