Honorable Shonzen Bernard, the Taraba State Commissioner of Waste Management - Innovation, exemplifies the journey from humble beginnings to significant success. A graduate of Taraba State University and a member of the Mumuye ethnic group from Yorro Local Government Area, Bernard's path is inspiring.


Originally known as Shonzen Nickben, he later simplified his name to Shonzen. He is a passionate entertainment enthusiast, and aware winning songwriter, singer, and the CEO of Shonzen Empire, an entertainment company that manages artists, dancers, and organizes the Miss Mumuye Beauty Contest, a prominent competition in Northern Nigeria.

Shonzen has released popular songs like "Ja'suru" and "Body Language," Confession, My Country and lots mostly produced by Nigeria's leading producer, DeeYasso. His contributions have made him a key figure in Taraba's entertainment scene.

Sources indicate that before his appointment as commissioner in 2023, he intended to run for the president of the Taraba State Entertainment Industry (TSEI). However, just a week later, he was appointed as the commissioner from Yorro LG.

Bernard is recognized as one of the most sociable and hardworking commissioners in the Agbu Kefas-led administration in Taraba State. From an entertainer he is now part of the executive council of Taraba State.
