Taraba State house of Assembly member representing Takun (I), constituency, Honourable Abubakar John Tanko, on Tuesday said he was engaging in community efforts with his constituency to complement Governor Agbu Kefas’s, efforts to end the persistent killings in the local government.

Tonko disclosed this in a chat with newsmen in Wukari said, the idea was to help FasTrack the end of dispute between farmers and herders.

According to the lawmaker, investigation has reviewed that resource allocation was the reason behind dispute between farmers and herders in the area, and that he and critical stakeholders were engaging in a community efforts to complement the effort of governor Agbu Kefas to end the dispute.

“I salute the quick response of governor Kefas over the general insecurity in Takum local and other parts of Taraba. On our on as a constituency, we are engaging in a community efforts to help complement the effort of governor Agbu to end the dispute between farmers and herders without delay.

“We understand that resource allocation is the reason behind the dispute so, we are doing our best to put an end to the matter and cement a peaceful relationship between the two citizens. The conflict is basically agitation for resource allocation. Farmers are looking for land to farm while herders are looking for land to graze.

“With what has happened over the weekend, we are expecting to see meaningful progress in the discussion around peace when it comes to allocation of resources, basically land.

“We also appreciate the proactiveness of the state governor who heeded our call to take the issue of insecurity seriously and provision of relief materials to those displaced,” The lawmaker disclosed.
The assembly member also commended governor Kefas for his assessment visit to Kashimbila FG’s 40MW power station which according him, was a point of resource creation for development of Taraba and Nigeria at large.

He noted that power was the major root for boosting business activities that is key in creating revenue for the development of the country.
