Taraba PDP: Case dismissed “on laughable grounds" - Prof. Nyameh to appeal Judgment

By Suru Charles

One of the aggrieved governorship aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba state, Professor Jerome Nyameh, said he has resolved to appeal his suit that was, early this week, dismissed by the Federal High Court in Jalingo, the state capital.

Recall that we reported that his case was dismissed by the judge, Simone A. Amobeda, because his allegations against the PDP governorship flag bearer for the state, Kefas Agbu, were not backed with evidence.

Some of such allegations, which he presented before the court seeking the disqualification of the candidate, include the alleged failure of Agbu to resign as the party’s state chairman before joining the race for the PDP governorship ticket.

Others as noticed  are his alleged failure to appear before the screening committee that screened all the governorship aspirants of the party from the Northeast region in the nearby Bauchi state.

More to his allegations which the court said “lack merit” was Agbu’s alleged failure to buy both the expression of interest and nomination forms before joining the race.

Wondering why the court should dismiss the case, the aggrieved aspirant, in a press statement on Friday, issued by him to media men in Jalingo, the state capital, said he has concluded plans to go ahead and appeal the Judgement.

Citing the grounds on which his suit was thrown out, he said, ” I will certainly appeal the judgment because the grounds of the dismissal are unknown to law.”

The university lecturer, who went ahead to disclose in the statement that “I am calm and in good spirit” stated that “We have existing authorities from appellate court against those grounds.”

Believing that the grounds on which his suit was dismissed were “very funny” he argued that “you don’t need to be a lawyer to know that the judge has just bowed to pressure and deceived them to postpone the evil day.”

Nyameh said the “court has on 19/9/2022 dismissed his case “on laughable grounds” and beckoned at his teaming supporters to remain calm while he go ahead seeking redress.
