The Federal High Court in Jalingo, Taraba state’s capital, has finally begun hearing the complaint seeking the disqualification of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) guber candidate in the state, Kefas Agbu.


Professor Jerome Nyameh, an angry PDP gubernatorial hopeful, has filed a lawsuit demanding Agbu’s immediate disqualification because he did not acquire the party’s expression of interest and nomination forms.


Nyameh, who in his writ of summons claimed that the candidate was the party chairman, also wants the court to restrain him from contesting for the governorship position of the state on the platform of the PDP come 2023.

 

Speaking on Thursday at the premises of the court, Nyame, via his counsel, Pius Danba, asked the court to declare his client as the “validly nominated candidate of the PDP for the 2023 governorship election.”


The presiding judge, Simone Akpa Amobeda, who admitted that the processes in the matter has been filed, urged the council to all the parties, to cooperate with him to conclude the suit as and when due.


The judge it was gathered has been transferred from the state, and promised to do all he can to conclude all the pre-election matters brought before him.
