After spending 8 days in the hands of their captors, the abducted family of former Taraba's secretary to the state government, Barr. Gebon Kataps have finally gotten their freedom from their abductors.


Recall that the family on Wednesday,5 January, 2022 were attacked on their way to Jalingo from Sardauna we're his wife and other members narrowly escaped but two of his sons, niece and driver were abducted along side 6 others including a lecturer of Federal University Wukari, the attack resulted to the death of one person and several injured.


Barr. Gebon Kataps confirmed the release of his family via a Facebook post. Below it reads.

Your Excellencies,My lords Spiritual and Temporal,My dear friends,brothers and sisters,


On Wednesday,5 January,2022 ,My family was attacked on their way to jalingo.

My wife and other members of the family were lucky to escape.

However,the following members were not so lucky and were kidnapped:-

1-Emmanuel kataps (Son)

2-David Kataps (Son)

3-Esabella Kataps (Niece)

4-Esther Geofery (Staff)

5-Rita David(Niece)

6-Bala Magaji (Driver).


I requested for fervent prayers from friends and loved ones since Prayers remain the best weapon to freedom.


Today,12 January,2022,at about 3am,after EIGHT AGONIZING AND TRAUMATIC DAYS IN CAPTIVITY;

The Almighty God,Who is The Way Maker,Miracle Worker and Light In The Darkness Has again answered the numerous prayers of the faithfuls and delivered them from Captivity and  are home,following a negotiated release,and have commenced the necessary medical examinations and trauma therapy. I solicit your prayers and understanding in this regard.


I have always believed and know that;the only thing God cannot do does NOT exist.


I therefore wish to thank God for His Unlimited Grace and Favour by answering our prayers for the safe return of these six and for the fast recovery of the wounded in the hospital.


God Bless Your show of love,solidarity and supports both in prayers,cash, and in kind.


I pledge on behalf of my family that we shall not take your love for granted.


To The Assailants, Abductors, and their Collaborators, it is not in my power to judge them but God Almighty. I forgive them.
