Musa Rhapsodi Affos



Taraba-born Sailor Nahum Tsokwa was on Thursday, 18 November 2021 honored with the highest award of the Nigerian Certified Institute of shipping by the minister of transport Rotimi Ameachi.


Rhapsodi Affos gathered that the award was given during the 22nd Annual Lecture / Graduation investiture & award ceremony 2021, in recognition of his brave effort to rescue 15 sailors from a burning ship off the Lagos sea before the ship sank in 2018.   With the award, he is now allowed to use the acronym "FCIS '' after his name representing Fellow of the Certified Institute of Shipping of Nigeria.


Alongside other nominees is Admiral Awwal Gambo the chief of Naval staff, DG NIMASA, MD NPA, and a host of other key players in the maritime industry.


The Burning Ship



Nahum Tsokwa is the son of the late renowned business magnet E.D TSOKWA from Rafin Kada, a suburb of  Wukari local government area of Taraba state who has distinguished himself both in national and community building. 


The sailor, US-trained detective, and Nuclear weapon specialist is the only Taraba rating to have successfully passed and served in the history of the Nigeria Navy intelligence till date. Back home he is known as a friend to the less privileged who so far has rehabilitated 13 borehole pumps, medical assistance to the needy, yearly provision of writing materials to all students in Rafin Kada, and so on.


The global citizen who is a holder of the US military benefits card has represented Nigeria in 27 countries of the world across continents.
