15 persons including three housewives were reportedly killed as suspected bandits attacked Jab Jab and Binnari and villages in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State at about 4am on Wednesday, November 10.





It was gathered the that the villagers attempted to fight back but the bandits who reportedly numbered over 50, overpowered them.


A security source who spoke to our reporter said the bandits attacked the two villages in retaliation for the killing of seven bandits by vigilantes in the area some weeks ago. He said the bandits who survived the attack escaped with the corpses of their gang members, but made a comeback on Wednesday after they had mobilized.



The source said the bandits numbering about 50 stormed Binnari around 4 am on Wednesday, and overpowered the villagers who attempted to fight back.

He said the village head of Binnari and some local guards were killed by bandits early this year.

He said the bandits set ablaze many houses during the retaliatory attack on the two communities on Wednesday.

Spokesperson of Taraba Police Command, Usman Abdullahi, who confirmed the incident, said officers had been deployed in the area to restore normalcy.

He said the police were yet to get the casualty figure from the incident.
