The youth wing of the Christian Association Of Nigeria (YOWICAN) has pledged its allegiance, and loyalty to the leadership of  the Christian Association Of Nigeria (CAN) under the leadership of Rev.  Dr. Samson Supo Ayokunle.

Rhapsodi Affos Blog gathered that this was contained in a communique released at the end of the YOWICAN NEC meeting, which was held on 23rd July at the Ecumenical centre Abuja, signed by  Bolusochuckwu Enwere, the National Chairman, YOWICAN and Bako Adashu Elijah, the National Secretary.

Evang Jesse Ephesian JP, state chairman youth wing CAN Taraba state who also attended the YOWICAN NEC meeting said a vote of confidence was passed on the present YOWICAN executives under the leadership of Hon. Bolusochuckwu Enwere.

When Rhapsodi Affos Blog RAB reporter interviewed the Taraba state CAN youth Chairman On the outcome of the meeting, Evang Jesse said the NEC meeting was one of the best of its kind.

Ephesian revealed that a lot of issues affecting the Youths Nationally ranging from unemployment, insecurity, humiliation by insurgency and a lot more were discussed.

Adding that some of the resolutions made at the NEC meeting will be implemented in his dear state Taraba.

A communique to this effect was released which read...

COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL (NEC) MEETING OF YOUTH WING CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (YOWICAN) HELD AT THE NATIONAL CHRISTIAN CENTRE ON FRIDAY 23RD JULY, 2021

The NEC meeting of YOWICAN held at the National Christian Centre on 23rd July 2021 which had in attendance delegates and officials to include –

National Executive Members

Zonal Leaders

State Leaders (drawn from the 36 States of the federation plus the FCT) and;

Representatives from the Blocs/denominations under CAN.

Having exhaustively reflected on the issues and matters arising from the presentations at the meeting, we now present our Communiqué as follows:

That the current leadership of YOWICAN pledges her unalloyed loyalty and solidarity to the worthy leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) under the able watch of His Eminence, Rev.  Dr. Samson Supo Ayokunle.

That YOWICAN shall continue to collaborate and work in concert with brothers from the Muslim faith to pursue the desired peace, unity and progress of the nation; and more particularly under the auspices of the Nigeria Inter-religious Council (NIREC).

That YOWICAN remains the only umbrella organization of Christian youths and church based youth organizations in Nigeria, asuch YOWICAN should be accorded the requisite recognition and support by the Federal Ministry of Youths & Sports and all other MDA’s, NGO’s and corporate organizations.

YOWICAN decries the increasing rate of insecurity in Nigeria, yet commends the efforts of government and security agencies in combating the nefarious activities of bandits, killer herdsmen, insurgents etc.

Despite the efforts so far made in the combating crime, YOWICAN observes the urgent need to curb the rising wave of attacks, killings, destruction of lives, properties, farmlands and livelihood of innocent citizens within the Northern states, specifically within Christian communities in Southern Kaduna.

YOWICAN in the performance of Christian tenets and faith believes strongly in peaceful coexistence, but this piety should not be construed as cowardice, therefore kidnappers, bandits, killer herdsmen, terrorists and unknown gun men should not push Christian youths to the extreme, such as to make them consider deploying self defense strategies as the last option.

YOWICAN asserts that rotation of the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will promote unity and concord, asuch the emergence of a Christian and youthful President come 2023 will be a true expression of equity, fairness and justice for Nigeria and Nigerians.

Finally, YOWICAN demands the immediate release of all abductees and particularly the students of the Bethel Baptist High School Kaduna State, who have been in captivity. We urge the Federal and Kaduna State Government to expedite action towards their release.

Signed:

BELUSOCHUKWU ENWERE

NATIONAL CHAIRMAN

YOWICAN

 BAKO ADASHU ELIJAH

 NATIONAL SECRETARY

YOWICAN
