Jalingo - The Taraba State University, Jalingo is set to expel not less than 2,000 students and some staff for alleged involvement in exam malpractice, misconduct and upgrading of students' GP.
Rhapsodi Affos Blog RAB exclusively gathered from a source who is a member of the Senate committee that the Senate committee have concluded plans to expel the students and some of the staffs for upgrading the GP of the students and collecting money in turn.
The source who spoke in confidence told our reporter that the students who are mostly final year students (400 and 500 level) upgraded their grades to first class and others who were supposed to spill over also paid their way out to some of the staff.
He added that even 100 Level students were involved in the fraud just to escape probation.
"The university management heard of the illegal activities going on, bothered by the ugly situation, they summoned the head of the ICT unit of the school and he denied having knowledge of the act"
"Upon thorough investigation, it was discovered that some of the staff working under him are responsible for this irresponsible act"

When approached by Rhapsodi Affos Blog Reporter, a senior lecturer of the university said
"Well, I 'm not aware of that. The only thing I know is that the results portal was locked immediately after the last senate approval of results. However, I do not know the reason behind that decision because it has not been done this way before".
Our findings showed that some of the ICT staff collect 5,000 least and upto 10,000 to clear a course. We gathered that some staff of the university who are also students were mostly involved in fraud and clearing of courses. Relatives of staffs and mistresses of some of the lecturers.
Our findings further revealed that the fraud has been going on for successive years in the institution, which involves some of the past graduates of the university.
