The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Taraba State Command, and its army counterpart, Thursday, renewed their commitments towards partnering to check crimes in the state.
The two security agencies renewed the synergy when the state commandant of the corps, Comdt Edwin Ugwuja, paid a visit to the brigade commander, 6 Brigade, Jalingo, Brig-Gen Hillary Mabeokwu.
Mr Ugwuja, Friday, told newsmen that the visit was part of his familiarization tour to sister security agencies in the state aimed at building a security network to checkmate crimes in the state.
Mr Ugwuja said, “The brigade commander promised to be of assistance to the civil defence. Already, the brigade trained many of our officers in weapon handling. The commander also promised to assist us in manpower development and operational backup when the need arises.
“We further discussed intelligence sharing. The truth is that the relationship between the two security agencies started as far back as 1967 during the Nigeria civil war. It was the Nigerian Army that started the corps to take care of civilians in captured areas.”
Our correspondent reports that they also resolved to ensure harmonious relationships between the two agencies to avoid rivalries or conflicts among their rank and file.
