Unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have on Sunday abducted a lecturer of the Taraba State University, Jalingo, Dr. Buba Umar, in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.
Rhapsodi Affos Blog (RAB) reporter gathered that the Kidnappers abducted Dr. Umar from his residence in the University’s staff quarters at about 1.58 AM on Sunday and was taken through the bush path bordering the institution and the State College of Agriculture.
According to our source Who pleaded anonymity, Dr. Buba Umar who was a Former Dean of Student Affairs of the Taraba State University, Jalingo and the former head of department of Forestry and wildlife of the same institution was whisked away by his abductors successfully without firing any gunshot despite the presence of two policemen guarding the school’s guest house.
We gathered that the men of National Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) who were situated around the axis put up some form of resistance by shooting sporadically into the air. At the boundary with the School of Agriculture, the gunmen were said to have shot sporadically ostensibly to ward off any attempt to apprehend them or rescue their victim.
Recall that, in April, 2019, Mr. Sanusi M. Sa’ad, the institution’s Deputy Registrar in charge of Public Relations and Protocol, Mr. was abducted from his residence in the school quarters and released after spending six days in captivity.
Police Public Relationships Officer of the Taraba State command, DSP David Misal is yet to confirmed the abduction as he is yet to respond when contacted by our reporter.
As at time of filing this report the abductors are yet to make any contact with his family.
