Team Taraba has on Monday clinched its first bronze medal at the ongoing National sports festival tagged “EDO2020”.
It was gathered by Rhapsodi Affos Blog (RAB) reporter that the bronze medal was won by Husseini Umar in Table Tennis after defeating his Lagos counterpart, Rasheed 3-2 on Monday.
Team Taraba’s Table Tennis coach, Kunle Jariobe in an exclusive chat with our reporter revealed that though he is happy that Taraba was able to clinch its first medal, he was out for a gold medal, not a bronze medal. He however expressed optimism that the remaining team Taraba coaches will do better to win more desired medals.
Jariobe also urge the coaches of Team Taraba to improve the welfare of their athletes and make available the necessary kits for them in subsequent competitions. He also seized the moment to thank the state sports council for allowing him to lead the team to the competition, adding that he had always won medals for the state and promised to do more.
Recall that Rhapsodi Affos Blog (RAB) had earlier reported that Team Taraba and Edo were reinstated after their initial disqualification due to the inability to provide the COVID19 results of their players.
